autumn blaze maple
bright red fall color, annual growth of 2-3 feet. typically referred as a soft maple, lifespan of about 60 years. 40-60 feet tall and 20-45 feet wide.
Sienna Glen maple
With a deep green summer color spring brings a red-orange leaf. Hardy tree with a 70+ year lifespan. 40-60 feet tall and 20-25 feet wide. Takes less attention to grow to a full healthy tree.
Firefall Maple
Deeper cut maple leaf that gets to be a bright orange/red in fall. This tree gets slightly shorter than the autumn blaze but is very hardy in our northern climate. Seedless tree with keep your yard clear and its shorter, and wider stance is great for your front yard
Matador Maple
What sets this tree apart is that it has red/orange/gold fall foliage that will hold onto the tree later in the season. Giving your yard the best look later, but you will still be raking leaves in November.. typical maple height of 40-50 feet and spread around 30. hardy tree that does well in urban or high traffic areas.
Northland Rubrum (red) Maple
This tree is great for wet or acidic soils, with green foliage but red stems and spring flowers. This tree is a good fit for many low maintenance applications. The seeds and flowers attract birds and insects. Fall colors are gold and red. Although the best fall colors on these trees are seen with low temperatures in fall.
Redpointe Maple
This tree will give you the most red color in the fall. With a typical size of 40-50’ tall this is a more pyramid shaped narrower tree. This is a great option for many spaces. Grows well with good drainage, this tree is native to Wisconsin. Be careful though, dried, shed fall leaves have been known to be toxic to horses!
Sugar Maple
This is an old standby, native to to the Chicago area, this is a slightly taller (60-70’) variation that has beautiful orange/gold/reddish fall color. This is not the fastest growing maple but it is very disease and pollution resistant. It is a safe bet if looking for a larger tree.
Emerald Queen Maple (Norway)
This tree is famously known for its oval shape and bright yellow fall color. Typical height of 40-60’ and slightly wider at about 40’. This tree does get seeds, flowers and berries that bloom in spring. Personally wouldn’t recommend near a concrete driveway as the berries will stain if left alone.
Royal Red Maple (norway)
This tree is famously known for its deep purple summer foliage. If you are interested in a slow growing, unique tree this is for you! Something to remember is that this tree does attract many types of wildlife. It grows in the typical Maple height, and is oval shaped so it gets wide. Well drained or medium soil is best for this tree.
Greenspire Linden
This is a very underrated tree that we love here at Del-Mor. With its pyramid shape it is a clean option near patios or driveways. One drawback is that maintenance and pruning is recommended. It gets about 50’ tall and 30’ wide. This is a very resilient and hardy tree for our area. The leaves are oval and spiney. Great non-maple option!

Swamp White Oak
This legendary tree is commonly known as a slow growing, hardwood. While its risky to transplant and tough to get going, its a long living (300 years) rounded tree that can get around 75 feet tall. These trees require full direct sunlight for 5+ hours a day. They are known for their green top, silver bottomed leaves, rough peeling bark and acorns. Oak wilt has been happening frequently in our area recently, so planting near other oaks is not recommended. Fall color is a bright yellow famous in our area!
Yellow Birch (swamp)
Like other birch trees, but without the white, papery bark. This tree showcases a yellowish bark, a very very slow grower, and a bright yellow fall color.
Whitespire Birch (paper)
This tree gets up to 40’ tall, and 10-20 feet wide, this is a popular option that is known for its white, not peeling bark. This would be a good option in a wet area as they do not respond well to dry conditions. also known for its multi-trunks or “clump”
Northern Acclaim Locust
(honeylocust)
This tree is known for its fern like foliage. A very hardy option makes it popular in Wisconsin because of its harsh winters. A personal take, the small leaves are hard to rake
